Brassicas are heavy feeders and like well-drained soil rich in organic matter. They like cool weather and survive happily through snow and frost as long as they are not sitting in very wet soil.
Before sowing, use Dalefoot Wool Compost Double Strength Compost to top dress the bed. Dig in two to three inches of the compost and work in well. This will provide the perfect nutrient rich and free draining soil ready for planting. You can sow directly into this bed in a narrow drill, gently watering to settle in the seeds or you can sow into Dalefoot Wool Compost for Seeds and then transplant at 4 – 6 weeks.
Give it a try for some lovely winter and spring crops.
