We are delighted to provide compost to the Royal British Legion for the creation of a wildflower border in Penrith town centre. The beautiful display of wildflowers is a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by many during World War 1.
The British Legion are holding a dedication ceremony on Saturday 5th July 2014 at 9.45 am where a cross can be placed in remembrance of lost relatives with pupils from the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School dedicating crosses to ex pupils.
The ceremony is part of the Penrith Remembers 1914-1918 events taking place throughout the year to remember the centenary anniversary of the start of World War 1. In the small communities throughout our area all families would have been affected by the outbreak of war in 1914 and suffered great hardship and loss.
