WOOL COMPOST ™

An exciting, new, strong compost made from bracken and sheep’s wool to really boost your plants. Use to grow flowers, fruit, vegetables and trees.

Bracken gives a high level of natural potash essential for fruiting and flowering whilst sheep’s wool has a high level of nitrogen that works as a slow release fertiliser and has good water retention. The idea for this compost came from the old gardening books that talked of wool’s natural ability to hold water to itself, and provide long-term nutrient release. Wool is still famously used to grow ‘Rhubarb’ in Yorkshire.

A real alternative to peat - but with a similar soft texture. Made from totally renewable resources with great environmental benefit to help you garden more sustainably.

Double Strength Wool Compost™
Designed for the traditional gardener – mix your own potting medium using soil from your own garden or recycled compost.

Buy 30 litres and mix 1:1 to make 60 litres of potting compost for fully rooted plants. Or, mix at a ratio of one part Wool Compost to two parts soil/compost to make 90 litres for younger, less mature plants.

This compost can also be used when planting out flowers, fruit, vegetables, shrubs and trees in borders and in gardens with lighter soils to reduce the problems of drought. Simply dig a hole twice the size of the root ball, mix Wool Compost with an equal part of topsoil and fill in around the roots. Tamp the mixture then water thoroughly.

LAKELAND GOLD
Is a well balanced, peat free soil conditioner full of rich organic material: a good source of potash and a wide range of naturally occurring trace elements.

Sustainably produced by blending bracken, harvested from the fells, with good old-fashioned farmyard manure. Composted and allowed to cure over time, this humus rich soil conditioner will provide a 'firm basis to good gardening'.

Enrich your soil by increasing the organic matter - the benefits are many: provides natural slow release nutrients; aids moisture retention; helps balance the pH; reduces erosion and provides a banquet for the earthworms. Increases soil temperature in winter and lowers it in summer. Sandy soils will gain body to hold moisture. Clay soils will gain a more open structure so that they drain better. Helps develop a fertile, living soil.

HORSEPOWER

An age-old soil conditioner- power packed to push your plants. Peat free, and full of organic material which provides humus and plant food. Composted and matured to produce a rich dark brown conditioner with a friable texture. A traditional favourite with the rose grower.
